It is finally happening! It’s a real live Kitchen Re-Do at my house…Yeah!!! The year was 1996,that we bought our lovely home…(only it wasn’t so lovely then…Everything was a minty green color …ok,ok, I digress …that’s a whole other story).
I was at the time, running my antique store (Hidden Antiques) downtown. I had no time for painting,so we hired a painter…thus as you will see, enter the RED cabinets. They actually were to be a rusty color…that turned out RED, somehow, and eventually I had an artist hand-paint an ivy(large leaf) on upper cabinet doors…since the wallpaper I had selected for the kitchen was an ivy…there you have it!
So some 16 years have passed, very quickly I might add. And I am sick to death of the RED cabinets, and Ivy wallpaper…It’s TIME for a change!!! With the help of my friends Bev and Janie…by gum, the change is taking place…
We are in our 2nd week of a couple of days a week working full blown on the project…Bev is our main stripper!!! Oh look out,I ‘m talking about stripping wallpaper off ,but not all of it! A bit of the backing paper and hints of the old wallpaper must be left behind …to glaze over, leaving that distressed look!
Janie ,is the Queen of distressing the cabinets after they have been painted with Chalk paint…called French Linen, which is a grey color…Lovely! Just love it! It is giving me the look I’m after…which is a French-Country/New Orleans flavor…My homework is usually painting in preparation for the detailing…
Ok we have…2 walls to go! Hoping to finish next week…I hate being torn-up!!! But we will do what we can and finish when we are done…so w/o further ado…here come the pictures!
